A thread runs through my work as an editorial publishing consultant, proofreader, and researcher: making sure a story, book, report, or speech is accurate and adheres to a style.
Those skills have led me to work for magazines, newspapers, book publishers (including one Pulitzer Prize winner), and federal agencies, on staff and as a freelancer. I have copyedited a speech for the U.S. Comptroller of the Currency that was due in 90 minutes, proofread a history of U.S. political parties, and researched whether the temple towers of Angkor Wat were originally covered in gold leaf (they were). I’m alert to shifts in tone that could indicate inadvertent plagiarism.
And I’m a team player, whether that means staying up until 3 a.m. to help close People magazine’s special September 11 issue, or spending two days reading hundreds of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ contracts for construction projects in Afghanistan to make our report unassailable.
